iPads to Bridge the Distance!
Help me give my students iPads to have the world at their fingertips!
These are unprecedented times. Never in my 14 years of teaching did I imagine I'd be doing so from my kitchen table. But, here we are in May, and teaching and learning are still happening!
My students and I have embarked on the remote learning journey together!
We are actively engaging in all sorts of different online platforms and learning new things. My students and I participate in Google meets to go over new material, and to check in with each other. In addition, I utilize Google Classroom to post announcements, assignments, and quizzes for my students. They complete their work on Classroom, and I am able to provide immediate feedback. I am amazed by their level of engagement and participation, and families' willingness to try new things.
I am asking for iPads as they offer many beneficial applications for my students to use to enhance their reading and writing skills while learning remotely. In my ELA classroom (even when that classroom is at home) students are given the chance to explore various genres of text. With these iPads they'll have a plethora of books at their fingertips through ebook apps, introducing them to all types of media.
The students will be able to become authors through apps that allow them to create and illustrate their own stories.
The use of iPads during these unprecedented times will help bridge the gap between our physical classroom and my students' current classroom!
