Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a Spanish dual language school that serves 73% Latino and 22% Asian students. About 34.1% are English Learners (ELs), 48.1% are English Only or Initially Fluent in English (IFEPs), and 38% participate in the Two-Way Immersion Spanish Dual Language Program. Through our multiple language programs options, we foster students’ sense of belonging and improve social-emotional and academic skills.
We work hard so that our students, despite their language classifications or underserved status, can achieve their highest academic potential and become successful and proficient readers.
My Project
Technology is here to stay so why not get on board? I am requesting 10 iPads and cases for my students to use as we work in small groups. I love to teach about various artists and books are wonderful but the iPad can show them artwork that comes to life. They can research artists and find out why they are renowned. There are great videos that can show students how to use materials to recreate an artist's masterpiece!
There are apps such as drawing pad and HD color where students can explore and make original masterpieces!
We can use the iPads with Osmo Super Studio where students draw and the drawing comes to life.
In addition to art, we can use it in small groups to research anything you can imagine. We celebrate World Culture Day in May so we can look up the country and find out about its cultures, traditions, music, and art!
The cases are for protection because little hands tend to drop them by accident. We want these to last for years to come so the cases are a necessity!
