Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is a second home to my students. In fact, for some of my students, it's their only structured and safe home. Over 90% of my students are high poverty, and some of the students have special needs. The majority of my students are Hispanic children whose parents speak little English.
What motivates me to come to work each day is my students, and that's why I love my job!
They are the future, and I need to make sure they are prepared for what society has in store for them. I believe in each one of my students, and I make sure they know it!
The first thing my students do is eat their breakfast in the classroom while watching current events on the computer. They are so intrigued with what's going on around in the world. They love to ask questions, and we have great discussions! After breakfast, we move into our literacy/math/science/social studies block stations. This school year, I and another teacher are developing a multi-grade fully integrated STEM program along with incorporating mindfulness activities to help our students focus, relax, and learn.
My Project
These requested four Apple iPads and protective cases will be used for students to complete project-based activities in science and math. In math, students will practice their math skills, complete assignments and create word problems to share with other students. In science, students will research, create and share the STEM projects they are working on.
The iPads are reliable and offer many apps that instill creativity and learning.
Utilizing the iPads during math station time will help students stay focused and give them the opportunity to learn new material and review various skills. During science time, students will utilize the iPads to complete STEM projects we are working on.
Having these Apple iPads in the classroom will get my students engaged and excited about learning. Motivation is guaranteed!
