Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The majority of students in my classroom are diagnosed with autism. My students are caring, fun, and I love teaching them through play every day! My students have significant needs in communication, social skills, motor skills and cognitive abilities. In addition, many of my students have health challenges such as feeding issues and allergies.
I teach in a Title I school in Southern California.
My school is located in a low socio-economic area where most students qualify for free meals. Families truly depend on our school to provide a safe, engaging and productive learning environment!
My Project
I am requesting three iPads and three iPad cases. My students are extremely drawn to technology and so motivated by the cause and effect aspect! It is a wonderful tool to facilitate learning in math and literacy.
In addition to academics, these iPads will be an amazing tool to target communication for my non-verbal students.
It will truly give them a voice and a way to express themselves. There are countless apps I plan on using to target math, literacy, and communication in fun and engaging ways with my students!
These iPads would be used daily in a small group setting. I plan to set clear learning objectives during our iPad time to help students learn and grow!
