I teach students who participate in a free breakfast and lunch program. Many of my students come from single parent homes and have a hard time just bringing in school supplies. Many of these students have to help take care of their siblings both before and after school while their parent is working or attending school.
My students are from a variety of backgrounds and have various learning styles.
My classroom is made up of both regular and special education students. They often come into school eager to learn and love to use technology.
The majority of my students read below grade level. They would benefit from a variety of classroom resources to help increase their success in school. I want my students to be informed citizens and be able to have the use of technology in the classroom on a daily basis. I want my students to have technology experiences that helps foster twenty-first century critical thinkers.
My Project
I would like to have a station in the classroom with four iPads. We were fortunate enough to have two iPads already funded, and would like to add two more to our classroom to complete the station. We have already used an app called Seesaw to take pictures of student writing, and then the student recorded themselves reading this writing. This procedure helps students with fluency along with catching their writing mistakes before typing the published copy. This was only day one with our new iPads; think of what we could do with two more. I have many educational apps that the students will benefit from and I am excited to share. We also look forward to using the iPads in groups to create pieces to present using our classroom Apple TV. It has been an exciting classroom the last week with the addition of two iPads and will be even more exciting if we are lucky enough to add two more to our classroom station.
