I work with a high poverty, high EL population in Northern California. Many of my students learn best through hands-on games like computer/iPad games as they are used to playing video games at home. Many cannot sit for long periods of time to listen to lessons being taught at the front of the room and need movement and variety in how I teach.
Many of my students use technology to play, not to learn, I want to help bring math learning to life through the iPad!
We do not have an iPad in our classroom. I would like to have an iPad (or 2) to be able to have a station that kids can go to in pairs or triads to work on math apps that you can only get on iPads. I also have a few math Osmo kits that require an iPad in the classroom, so it would allow us to use those without me having to bring my personal iPad into the classroom.
My students are very technology driven and learn best through my math stations - which having an iPad in the room would allow for another interactive, self-driven math station.
