I am a first year 1st grade teacher and I am trying to update my classroom materials. My classroom is always full of excitement. I like to take my children on many learning adventures through each subject. We are preparing for a unit for Earth Day and Arbor Day.
My 17 first grade students are excited young learners who attend a rural district in a farming area of the country.
They are a very active group that thrive from hands-on and interactive learning. My students have a wide range of learning styles and abilities. They enjoy helping each other learn and the use of iPads in our learning environment would be beneficial in their academic endeavors.
My Project
The use of iPads will make our unit on Earth day and Arbor Day less of a task for students and more of a fun experience! I will be able to plan lessons with interactive apps, along with more traditional approaches, and at home-activities. By getting the iPad minis this will allow students to work in groups and share their findings with each other in the classroom setting. Information comes to life as they become explorers of the environment. Funding this project would make a huge difference as the students engage in learning about the environment. Students will be able to create videos about the environment and make connections to information they have learned in classroom lessons. This resource will give my students a great piece of technology that will help them grow as learners in this subject area and across the curriculum. Using the iPad mini to research, plan and share our finds about Earth Day, recycling and our environment will make learning more exciting!
This project will impact my students by allowing them to have iPad Minis to enhance their classroom learning experiences.
These iPad Minis will ensure my students have technology at their fingertips on a daily basis and add another layer of learning when we explore topics around Earth and Arbor Day.
