I often ask myself how we can close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed? Technology and the exposure to technology has become such an important teaching tool in the classroom. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and use an iPad to help enhance their learning.
An iPad will make a huge difference in my classroom because they will be exposed to technology and utilize the apps to learn math, science, and literacy. I have seen such great apps that allow children to learn new sight words, math facts and see cool science experiments. I want to expose my students to all of this and with an iPad I will be able to. Not only will my students benefit but so will I. I can use it as incentives and put it in centers which will motivate them to want to learn and do their best!
