Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom is full of excitement to learn! They love to answer questions and get involved! My students are below grade level in reading. My goal is to improve my students' reading levels. My biggest challenge is not having the technology I need to utilize the programs available to my students.
My students are awesome.
They come to school ready to learn. They are not afraid to raise their hand and get involved with projects. My students love to use new technology in the classroom. Their eyes light up when we use our new interactive white board! They love to come up and use the "magic" pen to write the answers to Math, Language Arts, Science, History, and Art/Music questions.
Our school is a rural, title 1 school. Many of the students' families do not own a computer or tablet at home. For many of my students the only time they get to use a computer is at school. My school has just adopted a new program called system 44 for Reading. Unfortunately, we do not have enough devices in our classroom to reach all the students. I would love to have more devices to meet more of my students' needs.
My Project
My students would use the iPads for many different activities and projects. Most significantly, the students would get to utilize System 44. System System 44 is a Reading program that works with each child individually. It allows the students to learn and practice reading skills at their level. Each student needs their own device to use the system 44 program. The students will also be able to use the digital library through System 44 to read and take quizzes. Studies have shown a huge improvement in the student's reading level when using System 44. I hope to use the iPads to help my students improve their Reading level.I teach 3rd grade. I have several students reading at a 1st grade reading level. Some read below a kindergarten reading level. I believe if I could obtain more devices, my students reading levels would go up significantly. My goal is to get my students reading at a 3rd grade or above reading level. I believe having one on one devices will aid me in obtaining my goal.
The donation of one on one devices will improve my student's lives for many years to come.
If a child can read they can do anything. They will be 100 times more successful, than a child who can not read.
We are integrating the AVID program in our school. I am teaching my students the importance of goals and reaching those goals. If my students have the tools they need to be successful, such as one on one devices, then they will succeed in reaching the goals they have set for themselves!
