"If we teach today as we taught yesterday, then we rob our children of tomorrow." - John Dewey
My students are compassionate, motivated, and fun!
I teach in a low-income, Title I funded school. I teach first grade in a building where over half of our students come from low-income homes. My students do not allow their economical disadvantage to hold them back. They know my classroom is a safe, welcoming, and stable environment and enter each day with a smile and a passion for knowledge. With the help of the right resources and tools, I believe these students can make tremendous progress and be highly successful!
My Project
“We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher’s hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world.” – David Warlick
My classroom is vibrant, warm, and inviting.
It is a first grade classroom. The majority of my students come from low-income families. I teach in a high-poverty area in Appalachia Ohio. Many of my students do not have access to technology at home. However, they do not let their disadvantages hold them back. My students are very passionate about learning! They put forth their personal best every day. I truly believe they will be successful and can make tremendous progress with the help of the right resources and tools. My kids know that there is no limit to what they can learn and achieve.
Our school has purchased many great reading and math intervention programs, however, we do not have the sufficient technology to implement the programs effectively in the classrooms. For example, our school has recently purchased the Lexia program, which has already done great things for our students! However, they are not getting their prescribed amount of time due to lack of technology in the building. Having iPads in my room will help my students meet their prescribed Lexia time each week.
