Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach in an urban, low-income district. Our school serves students in kindergarten through eighth grades and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers, and a safe learning environment. It is extremely hard to get funding for anything. We are a small school that is often overlooked. The students are curious and eager to learn. Sadly, there are not always enough funds for individual classroom projects.

Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

Today's students embrace the ever-changing world of technology, and my job as a teacher is to help them learn using technology for our 21st-century world.

My Project

These iPads will give my students a chance to learn how about coding and robotics through various apps and programs.These iPads are the latest model and will give my students the opportunity to use newer robotics and programs to learn coding skills. Our classroom has been able to purchase a variety of new robotics through generous donations however, unless we have updated iPads, we will be unable to use them. Students will use iPads and their new coding knowledge to program Spheros, program VEX robotics, and launch their imaginations with the world of technology. My students have limited opportunities with technology, but with these iPads, a future in technology is within reach.
