My students' home lives are difficult. They are worried about their home life not about school. They often rely on school for their only meal. Most of my students receive free breakfast and lunch at school everyday. I provided most of my students with school supplies at the beginning of the year.
My school is in a high poverty area.
The majority of my students come from at-risk families and homes. My classroom is a safe place for my students. They are an active bunch. They are fun-loving, spirited, curious, kind, and they love to learn. They look to their teachers for love. Parent involvement is minimal. Our staff tries hard to be there for our students, but it is often difficult to provide our students with all the things they need. Our students often struggle with academics and have limited resources. School is where they feel safe and happy.
My Project
Every child learns differently. Being able to customize these requested four Apple iPad mini tablets to my students' learning styles and needs with a few taps of the screen will give me the ability to teach all my students the same lesson in different ways.
I have students who speak very little English. I have students who scored so low on district assessments, the tests had to be discontinued. Our entire school had to be restructured because our students were not showing progress from year to year. My students need to be 21st Century Learners, but first I need to find the way they can learn best. Finding the way they can learn best and being able to differentiate with an iPad is an important step in getting my students the intense interventions they need.
These iPads will help my students be successful.
They will be able to learn at their own level. Every school year brings a variety of ability levels and having classroom iPads will further allow me to differentiate for my students' needs. iPads will give me so many ways to engage my students and bring every lesson to life.
