Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
“We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher’s hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world.” – David Warlick
I work in a Title 1 school which means most of my students receive a free or reduced lunch.
In these hard economic times, most students' parents work multiple jobs to just put food on the table. Even though money is tight in most homes, these students always show up to class with a smile on their faces and are ready to learn.
My Project
This generation is heavily into technology and sometimes is the only way to get students' attention. My school has purchased many online resources to use but because of the lack of computers in my room, I am unable to utilize all of the resources we have. If these iPads with protective cases are purchased for my classroom, I will be able to use all of the resources that are available for many more students. Students who are easily bored in school will have a greater appreciation for school when completing fun and interactive educational games on the iPad.
These donations will go towards furthering my students' education because of the many online programs that are offered at my school.
All of my students love to go on the computer to work on projects or do online games but because of the lack of resources, only a few of them are able to use them at a time. These iPads will make it so that many more of my students can go online and get the extra instruction they need through educational games and activities.
