My Students

They come from blue-collar, working class families. Many of them work on farms. Because of their working class roots, they are very hard working individuals. They are extremely self motivated. All have used computers before, while some families still do not have a lot of technology at home. Along with being hard working, they are also a good students; polite, respectful, and kind to one another. They have a strong desire to learn and enjoy using technology in the classroom. Our school is made up of over 550 students in varying ability levels. Middle School is a time of discovery and I am excited to use my classes to show this technology to our students and to help other teachers implement it into their lesson plans. Students are VERY excited about 3D printing. In the short time I have done this, students are creating Ornaments, cards, cups, hooks and models. All these activities help promote STEM education.

My Project

Having the set of iPads will allow for independent learning in my classroom. These will be used to analyze live data, research various scientific topics such as matter. The students will also work within Google Classroom to submit assignments and receive immediate feedback. They will also be used to incorporate the elements of STEAM, and design engineering projects. Students could take pictures of their work and record observations through notes.

We live in a technological age, where students should be able to learn at their own pace to become college and career ready.

In the mathematics classroom, the students can work with interactive math activities to explore the meanings behind algorithums and concepts. Receiving immediate feedback through Google Classroom will spotlight errors and concepts as they happen. This will provide an enduring understanding of concepts.
