The energy level in my Kindergarten classroom is high and my students are eager to learn and work hard every day. They are interested in everything from reading and math, to singing and painting. My goal is to give all of my students what they need to grow and be successful in school.
My school is located in Los Angeles and the students come from various backgrounds.
Some have never been to school before and are learning letters and sounds for the first time. Others are already reading and are ready to do more! One thing they all have in common is their enthusiasm and love for school. I want to give them all the opportunities to learn and grow at their own pace. We work in small groups to practice their reading skills and the foundational skills that they need to learn and grow.
My Project
As my students move through their day, they are at times given the task to work independently. The challenge for me as their teacher is how to make this independent time the most useful and engaging. iPads are a powerful tool for this. With the learning apps that are available, I will be able to give the students time to work on skills that are appropriate to their level and at the same time fun!
This project will make such a difference in my classroom.
It will give me the freedom to work with children in a small group who need my help while knowing that my other students are also working on skills they need independently. These same students will be using iPads in the future for testing and other projects as they move through their school years. This will give them the experience they need in using this type of technology.
