I see all 560 students at my school with diverse classroom populations.
Students come from all economic and cultural backgrounds but they have something in common--they are inquisitive and principled. Through our International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program our students learn through inquiry-based instruction where they create research questions, learn how to find the answers, and reflect on their experiences. They also are encouraged through positive reinforcement to model our IB attitudes--cooperation, commitment, enthusiasm, empathy, etc. Our students are being refined daily into global citizens who can think critically, support peace, and speak another language before there is such a thing as an elective.
My Project
My native Spanish-speakers will use the tablets and their applications to read novels, create dynamic projects, and tell their own stories with updated resources.
During technology students will be able to use the tablets to help take photographs, create films, and endless imaginative projects using apps with the Apple iPad minis. Technology is diverse and we want to offer ALL students from ALL socio-economic levels the opportunity to have access to this incredible technology to become even better 21st Century Citizens.
This project will help my native Spanish-speakers remain engaged in furthering their development of their first language which helps the acquisition of their other languages.
This project will also grant my students another medium to learn how to demonstrate what their learning with technology skills. This will prepare them for their future at a much earlier age than what we have received it.
