iPads for Innovation (Part II)

My students need an iPad to encourage independent and innovative learning in math and science, as well as to support diverse student needs in reading and writing.

My Students

Nestled in a tight-knit, rural community within a school serving approximately 430 students, ranging in age from preschool to eighth grade. Our fourth grade classroom is a place of creativity, discovery, innovation, and independence where the students love to experiment and learn as a community.

My students strive to be role models and endeavor to conduct themselves in a kind, caring, compassionate, and responsible way.

They are hard workers, both academically and socially, and especially enjoy our student-centered learning environment.

My Project

As the "pen and paper" of our time, technology holds the power to transform learning in any classroom. iPads can offer my students the opportunity to create stories in new, creative ways in writing, using apps to support digital storytelling. In reading, digital libraries and audiobooks allow children of all abilities to access a variety of texts over a range of reading levels to improve their fluency, expression, accuracy, and comprehension. iPads can serve as research stations in science, giving students access to rich world experiences within the walls of their classroom, while also opening up avenues for learning about coding as we prepare children of today to be digital citizens of tomorrow.

The integration of iPads into the classroom allows students of diverse needs to access the curriculum and provides children with the support they need to participate in challenging projects in an engaging and exciting way, while encouraging independence and student-centered learning.

Two iPads (out of our goal of four) have been fully funded and are on their way to our classroom. Your donation will go toward an additional iPad, helping us incorporate some much-needed technology into our classroom and providing us with fun and interesting avenues for celebrating the magic of learning!
