My first graders love to learn! They are becoming readers, writers, and mathematicians, and they are always up for a good challenge! Each of them has individual instructional needs ranging from learning letter sounds and sounding out basic words to reading and writing a year or two above grade level. In Math, they range from just starting to understand numbers and what they mean to adding, subtracting, and even multiplying.
Access to quality software helps to meet their diverse learning needs by giving them engaging instruction and practice, with immediate feedback and support.
They need devices to use so they can access that software.
Students will use the iPads for reading, math, and writing. In reading and math, they will access individualized software, including Lexia, ST Math, and Raz Kids that are leveled and help meet the needs of struggling learners, advanced learners, and everyone in between.
Digital storytelling software such as Adobe Spark gives students an opportunity to publicly share their writing and celebrate their accomplishments.
This helps reluctant writers to get excited about writing and celebrate their successes, as well as motivating on level and advanced writers. Students love being able to share their projects with each other, with their families, and with anyone else they can find!
