"We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher's hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world." So says David Warlick, and I could not agree more. I believe there should be elements of technology and blended learning in every classroom to prepare students for the technological advances of our society.
The students at my school come from all areas of the district.
Our school depends on the support of our community. We use our community leaders as tools for learning and our city as a way to explore history. I want to make sure my students have every opportunity I can possibly provide for them.
My Project
As a teacher, I believe that it is crucial for students to be familiar with the persistent advances in technology in order for them to responsibly and successfully interact with the modern world. The school environment is a safe and instructive place for students to explore everything that technology has to offer them, and I believe that continuing to use iPads in the classroom will launch my students down an interactive and instructive path.
Technology is an integral part of the classroom as well as the professional world.
It allows students to enhance presentations, hone literacy and math skills, and learn how to interact with different types of technology. By using the iPads in our classroom, my students will be able to access our online learning websites as well as practice their typing. In addition, providing iPads would give my students the ability to work on essential math skills, research classroom projects, and read personalized leveled reading material all from a portable device!
Throughout the school day, my students are engaged in a variety of learning centers that cater to their individual learning goals. Their classwork is differentiated to fit their different needs. Putting iPads at a center will open up a world of opportunity for my students to have individualized instruction and leveled support during this independent learning time. In addition, many of my students are not able to access these programs at home, so logging on during school time is vital to securing their literacy and math skills.
