Kindergartners are inquisitive and engaged learners. They love to learn! My kindergartners are eager to explore the world around them. They are also 21st Century Learners. Having access to high-quality hands-on STEAM materials that provide an interactive learning component is essential.
My students are enthusiastic, curious, and engaged.
They are hands-on learners. Some of my students speak another language at home and several qualify for special education modifications.
Our school is a new school that is still building its curriculum and materials. We are a STEAM school, meaning we explore various scientific concepts through hands-on, integrated projects. My Kindergartners are fully immersed in a scientific concept and topic throughout the school day. An important part of their learning is through hands-on explorations and technology. By giving them another iPad, I will be able to have half of my class accessing technology at once. That allows all of my students to access technology to curriculum with a partner!
My Project
Our classroom has been very lucky to receive iPads from DonorsChoose! Our goal is to at least be matched 2:1 to iPads in our classroom. The addition of this iPad will help us get one iPad closer to that goal! We use iPads in all of our subject areas and are beginning to document our learning through special apps. We also have been fortunate enough to have OSMOs and Blocks Rocks donated that we use with our iPads!
By having an additional iPad available my students will have access to technology throughout the day.
We also use iPads in our classroom to use educational apps, complete age-appropriate research projects and listen to books with a QR code reader!
I feel the right use of technology is essential to a student's growth and development. By being thoughtful about how and for what we use our iPads for I can ensure learning is meaningful.
