Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our K-2 students are enthusiastic learners that would benefit from additional technology in the classroom. The iPads would be used as reading and math interventions to support our students. Our school is in a low-income area and many of our students don't have technology at their fingertips to help support their learning.

We are a Title One school in Lansing, Michigan that serves 210 K-6 students. Each classroom has about 32 students. The K-2 classrooms have nearly 100 students combined, so this project would make a tremendous impact on our sweet kiddos.

My Project

Having 14 iPads to share amongst our K-2 classrooms would allow the teachers to provide targeted instruction to all learners. By utilizing educational apps, students will get extra practice in all subject areas. Students will also be able to take weekly spelling tests, do research projects, and take the district-wide assessments with ease.

The iPads would be shared among 3 classrooms and would impact nearly 100 students. We have an online reading and math program that provides additional resources and support to our students. Unfortunately, we do not have the adequate technology to allow this program to have the greatest impact on our students.
