iPads for Differentiated Literacy and Math Interventions in 3rd Grade
Help me give my students these 6 iPads in order to further their learning. I have also included a charging station to make it possible to recharge the devices to allow students to use them daily.
I teach in a preschool - 8th grade rural area school which services approximately 430 students. I have been teaching in this school for twelve years now, and I have grown to think of it as my second home. The students are amazing, the school staff are supportive, and the community has a deep love for education.
My students are full of life, creative, hard-working, kind, and persistent.
They love to learn and it shows in their excitement I get to witness every day.
Recently I have been incorporating different reading and math centers that involve using various forms of technology in the daily routines of my classroom. The students are learning how to use educational websites and apps and how to process logging on to these resources independently. The students love the reading sites that allow you to listen to stories or have the stories read aloud if the student is a struggling reader. These various reading and math sites, and the differentiation they offer, really allow all students to access every part of the 3rd grade curriculum and challenges them to go beyond.
My Project
The advancement of technology has grown so quickly over recent years, it's hard to keep up with all its advancements when teaching young children. With the addition of 6 iPads in my classroom, I can allow students access to differentiated curriculum daily. My students will use these iPads to access various apps and websites. These apps will allow struggling readers to have stories read to them. They would allow students a world of knowledge, books, and resources at their finger tips. These iPads will be used to create stories and writing logs. They will be used in science centers to investigate current topics of study. Students will be able to practice daily math facts quickly and efficiently, which allows all students to access this skill daily.
The integration of iPads helps me to reach all students, with various reading and math abilities, in my classroom.
It would allow struggling students the ability to access curriculum that they normally wouldn't be able to access without the support of technology. It would allow high level students to reach a bit further with their learning. My students enjoy when we have the option to use any sort of technology within the classroom.
