Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach at an elementary school in the heart of a large city in Florida. My school is located in a community that has a majority of ELL students and parents. This is a Title I school with limited resources and all our students receive free breakfast and most receive free or reduced lunch.

We are a second and third grade Special Education classroom that is part of the Autism Academy.

Our classroom has nine students with Autism, ADD/ADHD, sensory deficits, Multiple Disabilities, Behavior deficits, and Speech and Language Impairments.

Our class is filled with diverse learners with a variety of different needs and learning styles. We need your help to provide our classroom with the basic things that are essential to an ASD classroom which will ensure that all the students will be accessing the curriculum.

My Project

These iPads will help my students to access the apps and websites that are required to achieve some of their goals. My students each have individualized goals and with iPads,​ they will be able to access apps such as "Teach Town" which will help them with social issues as well as other apps that will help them with reading and math as well as behavioral goals.

These iPads will be a wonderful addition to our classroom.

It will enable these students to work on their specific and individualized goals. It will also help me to work one and one with students while others are engaged with their iPads.
