My students need three iPad minis to for our Accelerated Reader program. They read books and then test on the information they have read. This will allow more students to test daily!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine wanting to show what you have learned, but you don't have access to the tools necessary to do so! That is exactly the situation in our classroom. My students are avid readers and participate in a program called Accelerated Reader. For this, they take quizzes online about books they have read.
Nestled in the middle of an industrial park and residential park, our school is one of the top ten scoring schools in Maricopa County, per state-testing.
We are a public school of choice that provides an accelerated curriculum to a population of students, 45% of whom are receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Our students are dedicated to their education. We have community support, with a parent base that is dedicated to the success of their children.
My Project
We live in a changing world, and our school works to give access to the ever-changing and developing technology that our students will need to work with in "the real world". While we have access to this technology, it is not on a consistent basis. Having more three iPads within the classroom would provide more ready access to this technology and aid our students in developing those key skills that cannot be taught without the equipment.
Our students participate in a program called Accelerated Reader. In this program, they read a book that is at their specific reading level. After they are through, they take an online quiz to show what they learned from the book. This grant would give us three iPads within our class that will allow the students to "show what they know" on a more consistent basis.
Having this grant for iPads funded would greatly increase the opportunities available to my students to use technology that they may not otherwise have access to.
While they may have access to a laptop or desktop, many of my students do not have access to a tablet, which is a tool that is utilized often in "the real world".
