iPads for Career Projects
My students need 2 iPads to share while they research careers for their Career projects. The iPads will allow for time to research during times when we cannot go to lab.
In a Common Core world, knowing how to research and using technology for educational purposes is of utmost importance. My students need to be able to be connected at all times and realize that the technology available can be used for optimal educational purposes.
We are a small school and we are frequently meeting the benchmarks.
However, because we are a relatively successful school, we get little to no state or federal funding and need to fundraise for everything. Because of the Common Core roll out, most funds raised will be going towards new curriculum, so technology bills have been set aside. These kids are familiar with technology, but need the constant exposure so they can realize how powerful an educational tool technology can be!
While some students are fortunate to have technology in their personal lives, we still have some students who do not know how to navigate a computer or tablet. At 6th grade, this puts these kids at a disadvantage already. Additionally, for those students who have the technology at home, they need to realize the potential of these technological tools - how to use these to their educational advantage. We need 2 Apple iPad Minis to meet these needs.
Being able to have access to these iPads will help the kids immensely.
They will be able to have these at any time, without having to wait for time at the computer labs. With their upcoming Career projects looming, these iPads will help them with their projects for research and for contacting individuals in fields they are interested in.
