My students absolutely love coming to art class and have amazingly creative ideas for their art projects. Many times I am blown away by the way my students can take a simple idea and incorporate their own personality and talents to make the art project into something truly meaningful to themselves. My students love art so much that many come to the art room during their recess just to have some extra time to do art.
My students are a melting pot of cultures and experiences and love to express their unique culture, identity, and gifts through their artwork.
Most of my art project themes allow students to incorporate their own life experiences and personality into their art and showcase the wonderfully exceptional person they are becoming. Art allows my students to express what's in their hearts and their dreams for the future.
My students are so curious about the world around them and jump at the chance to share something new they've learned with the class. They are very excited to try all kinds of art techniques and mediums such as watercolor and tempera painting, printmaking, ceramics, drawing, collage, mixed-media art, fiber arts and so many more.
My Project
My art students are always looking for great ideas to inspire them for their own artwork. Sometimes it only takes a quick glance at an image to inspire them to create something truly amazing. My classroom currently has only one iPad. Students are always asking to borrow the one classroom iPad and if someone is using it, then other students have to wait. Most recently, my students were drawing self-portraits and had to choose a famous piece of architecture to place in their background. So many students wanted to look up images on an iPad, but there was only one iPad. It would be so wonderful to allow more students the option of using an iPad.
By donating to this project, my students will be able to utilize technology in order to generate artistic ideas, learn how to draw a variety of images, and receive inspiration from the world around them for the own artwork.
Further, when students are struggling to come up with an idea for their artwork, it is so helpful to have an iPad available to show them an image to get them started. I believe that having iPads available to students will help them grow in tremendous ways by building their confidence for creative expression and supporting their continuing growth as artists.
My students are also in need of a variety of markers for their art projects. With over 600 students using materials, the markers dry out so quickly. I would love to replenish our marker supply so that students can continue to create beautiful and vibrant artwork like the one shown in the picture. Specifically, I am planning for students to utilize the colorful Bic Permanent markers to decorate their sketchbook covers and the Mr. Sketch markers will be used to create abstract salmon art.
