I teach second grade in Pennsylvania, at a school where many students face the effects of poverty every day. The students come from many different ethnic backgrounds and have many challenges outside of the classroom. My students love reading, doing math, and using technology in our classroom however; we don’t have access to many of the same resources other students do.
The students are eager and willing to learn despite the many challenges that they face in and out of the classroom.
Many live and go to school in a low-income neighborhood and lack the materials and supplies needed to be successful in school. Many of the students do not have books of their own to read at home or the basic supplies to complete their homework/school work.
My Project
Technology is all around us. Unfortunately, most of my students do not have access to it. There are numerous websites and apps that we like to use in our classroom. We don’t have enough devices for all students to use at the same time. The students do a great job sharing devices. My goal is to fund enough projects to get enough devices for all of my students. This iPad will add to our current collection of technology. This iPad will bring us up to 8 devices. The students love using technology in our classroom. They are so excited to learn using various online apps.
