My Educational Philosophy is to make my students world as big as possible no matter what their living situation is when their schooling is finished. My students might find themselves living in the following situations: in their own apartment, in a group home, or living with family. My students will experience different living situations over the course of their adult lives, as a teacher my job is to give them the ability to contribute to the community no matter what their specific living situation is at the moment.
My classroom is focused on student success after High School.
After High School my students will go the Employment Transition Program, that will focus on working a job in the community. The classroom I am working in has a history of preparing our students for becoming successful employees as adults. As students come in as freshman we transition them from purely book learning, to functional learning that is applied to their everyday lives as adults.
I have the joy of working with the following student's in my classroom: a student on the Autism Sprectrum, a student who had Downs Syndrome, or a student who may have multiple Exceptionalities.
My Project
These three iPad and Chrome Books will be used by students with disabilities to easily access their accommodations. It would allow things like note taking, helping with reading tests, test to speak, practical math applications, study skill enhancers, and quick dictionary, thesaurus access for vocabulary, etc.
These iPads and Chrome Books would give my students a sense of independence while supplying them with the extra support needed in order for them to achieve success in the classroom.
Students will have access to books, audio books, newspapers and magazines. The device has ultra-fast web browsing with built in Wi-Fi for research. Plus, the calendar support can be used for notification of assignment due dates to help students stay organized.
