My students need to be able to have access to really good online content that is available through Apple Education. Some of the apps on the iPad are incredible.

My Students
Powhatan County is a county located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 28,046. My school is the county's only secondary school that teaches 9th through 12th grade. While the school as a whole tests well and is academically progressive, I teach what is known as "Bridge Kids". In other systems, I think they are referred to as "at risk". These are students who are presented with a great many challenges at home that carry over into the classroom. These students often times do not live with both parents, some living with grandparents and other relatives. They are identified as students who may end up taking the GED or dropping out if there are no proper interventions.
My Project
Many of today's Career and Technical Education jobs use an Ipad daily. I prepare my students to enter the workforce after high school as college is not the goal of every student. I would like the students to feel comfortable using the Ipad and working with the apps so that when they apply for jobs, they will already have the experience and comfort level required by the employer. Opportunities are limited in our rural area, but we are close enough to Richmond for students to get jobs upon leaving school. Metropolitan students will already have this skill set, I just want to help these students develop the skills.
