IPad Unleashes Student Learning
My students need an IPad to communicate with others
Much of today's technology has not been successfully adapted so special needs students can use it. The iPad can enhance their needs for communications.
My students are in the Severe/Profound range of mental retardation and some have autism.
They have no functional means of communicating with others. They attend a Title 1 public school in a rural area of our state. They also have some physical handicaps which limit their mobility. They want to and love to learn.
These students have the same need to interact with their peers and adults as other students, but are very limited because they have severe or profound disabilities. It is heartbreaking to see them struggle daily without the technological support that would enhance their daily lives, specifically an iPad. Access to an iPad would enable these students to "talk" to others. Most of us are fortunate to have the joy of daily communicating with others; these students do not. Imagine yourself unable to share your feelings, wants, and needs. Wouldn't you want someone to help? Please consider funding our application for these deserving students.
We have very limited funds and have had cutbacks to our budget for the past 5 years making purchasing anything above the bare necessities out of reach.
Please consider giving these students the opportunity to open up a whole new world of communication and aid them in becoming more successful and more like their peers.
