This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Challenges come with education. This year I am challenged with helping several struggling students reach their full academic potential. With competition from high tech video games, cell phones, etc., I would like to integrate educational technology that captures their attention in the same way.
Ours is a Title 1 school with a diverse student population.
My class consist of a group of energetic, inquisitive second graders who make teaching a pleasure. They come from an array of cultural and economic backgrounds and, as it is in most classrooms, they also come with an array of academic abilities. I am excited about this year with them as we explore new territory through Mathematics, Science, Reading, and Social Studies.
My Project
While I am confident in the abilities of all of my students to learn the required content as stated in our curriculum, I understand that their diverse needs require diverse learning strategies. Learning should be relevant, engaging, and (if at all possible) technology-based. Through the use of the iPad Mini, I hope to generate excitement and, eventually, mastery around skills that require remediation.
Donations to this project will make after-school tutorials and skill-based center time more engaging and essentially more successful for my students.
Students will benefit from the many educational Apps that provide activities in Reading, Language Arts, and Mathematics.
