This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are urban students in PreK through 8th Grade. My students are up and coming, often beginning, musicians. It is my privilege to help these students take the first step into this lifelong journey.

My students are my absolute favorite musicians.

Every time they hold instruments in their hands, sing songs, or listen to the great works, they have the same gleeful expression as the first time they did. Their excitement knows no boundaries. They are always looking for the next musical adventure, no matter the challenge.

My Project

This iPad will be used in a variety of different ways. They will be able to use this technology to create and share their own self-created music. My band students will be able to use programs such as SmartMusic much more easily and with much more portability. My students will be able to do research and other independent projects. My students are also resourceful, and I am sure that they will come up with many more ways to integrate this tablet into our everyday lives.

My students need this iPad to enter the 21st Century music classroom.

This tablet is an essential tool for the modern learner and brings a unique set of opportunities into my elementary and middle school music classroom. This iPad makes countless opportunities available to historically under-privileged urban scholars.
