Help me give my students iPads in our classroom. My special education students are motivated to learn and happy to be interactive learners, because they can now access the curriculum right in their hands.
My high school students are diverse special education students. They have moderate to severe impairment, but they are a group of students who love to learn and improve their academic and functional skills. They are hardworking and have a lot of potential to be successful in meeting and coping with their special needs. They are motivated to learn and eager to do their best to complete their task. My students use QR codes to work in our reading centers and also in their homework assignments. My students who are struggling to read or need reinforcement of our lesson can watch a linked video tutorial that helps them recall what they learned during class.
My Project
My students would love to have a handy technology they can manipulate right in their hands. So, I used my own personal money to purchase 5 iPads to use in the classroom. We need another 2 iPads in our classroom. We would like to have for each student have his or her own iPad to use during instructional time. The iPad applications will allow me to teach my students, who have different functional academic levels, because it has many uses, just fits right in meeting the diverse needs of my students. I just introduced a new concept of using QR codes, so they can access the WEB easily and make audio recordings of materials. I need my students to read and upload the recordings to our Google Drive or Dropbox. There are apps to increase vocabulary, sight words, and math facts, reading comprehension, and drawing skills. For my autistic students, with poor fine-motor skills, the touchscreen design is easier to use than a desktop computer with a mouse or a laptop with a touchpad. I would like to see each student have the opportunity to use iPads at the same time.
This IPAD device will really make a big difference and the students will be more motivated to learn because they can manipulate the device and can easily turn pages using the touchscreen.
The IPAD will be a valuable tool for my students in the classroom. Thank you for this opportunity to support us and to help our students learn to the best of their potentials. Thank you for this opportunity so we can serve our SPED students better and bring out their best potentials despite
