This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 2nd graders come from real-world homes where life can be a struggle. Yet, if you look at them, they are some of the happiest kids you've ever met. We are like a family of meerkats. We like playing games, doing science projects, using our outdoor learning center and "fish-bowling" together to share learning experiences. My Title 1 school does its best to make sure we provide three meals, health care, counseling, and after school programs. I am the luckiest teacher in the world to teach these at-risk students.

My Project

The purpose of this project is to get technology in the classroom to help us achieve our goals. Choosing IPADs to help us learn is research-supported (https://www.scilearn.com/blog/using-ipads-in-schools). Using them in the classroom creates opportunities to for children to make choices about their learning with different apps that meet their individual needs (Splashmath, EPIC, Teach Your Monster to Read, and Prodigy).

The IPADs generate excitement which fosters motivation to learn.

Using IPADs, the students will connect with many opportunties for their choice of read-alouds, practice apps, and QR codes activities. The students will also be able to videotape themselves reading for fluency. With all these opportunities, IPADs in the classroom are a must!
