My Students live in a very small agriculturally based community. The vast majority of my students come from poverty. Don't let that fool you, they are some of the hardest working 7th graders around. They work very hard with very little resources. These students come from a vast ethnic background and we have a very larger EL population. Our students are technological natives that use their resources to grow academically and creatively.
The students at my school receive free lunch due to their socioeconomic status.
They will surprise you, just like they surprised me!
My Project
As a 1:1 School, my students use their IPADs to create, take notes, store projects, and research. Most of the time, in order to print these items for studying purposes or to share their creations, it means students have to send it to a teacher who then has to print it out for them. When we use the devices for notetaking it becomes a problem for students who don't take the devices home to study from their notes.
This project would eliminate that concern and help our students grow academically without the worries of missing their notes or having to depend on the teacher to print them out for them.
This printer will also allow students to be more creative in their Grand Challenge STEM projects by not limiting them to black and white or computer based products.
