My students are absolutely amazing! Last year was our first year building a drama program and this semester we have about 75 kids involved in the theater department. In our first year, we attended a One Act Competition, placing fourth in our division, put on a Christmas Palooza, hosted a Talent Show, and finished our first ever full-length Spring Musical, Shrek. I have some very hard working kids!
Most of my students had never been in a production before last year, but with the start of our new drama program, we are giving them the opportunity to shine!
My kids are learning so much about working together as a team and how to persevere even when they feel like quitting. Putting on a production is definitely a lot of hard work!
This program is also bringing our school together. So many different types of students have signed up for a drama or chorus class. We have football players, band members, agricultural students, and many more! I feel like being involved in a musical has brought many students new friends that they may not have made otherwise.
My Project
We are in need of an iPad for our Drama Program at CHS. We would like to use it to run the music for all of our shows, especially our One Act Productions. We currently have a portable sound system and one iPad that runs the microphones wirelessly. The next step for us is an additional iPad that will be able to run the music through this same system.
Students run the sound for all our productions, and an additional iPad would definitely make their lives easier.
A way to run the music wirelessly means that my students can travel throughout the theater and work the music at the same time. They will be able to make sure that all of the audience no matter where they are sitting can hear what is happening on the stage.
