My Students

All B. Unified School District elementary schools provide a rich variety of visual and performing arts experiences for Kindergarten through fifth grade students. Students continue to develop artistic skills in middle school arts electives and after school classes. B. High School offers a broad range of arts classes including Ceramics, Photography, Computer Art, AP Studio Art, Afro-Haitian Dance, Modern Dance, Drama, Advanced Theater Projects, Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Guitar, Chorus and AP Music Theory. One year of high school visual or performing arts is required by the UC and CSU systems.

After an extended period of sampling among violins, violas, flutes, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, percussion, ukulele, guitar and chorus, fourth graders choose chorus or the instrument they wish to study.

Fifth graders continue with chorus or the instrument studied in fourth grade. Classes are held twice a week during the school day. Both grades perform at school concerts. Fifth graders have the opportunity of participating in the Performing Arts Showcase in March and attending the Jumpstart Retreat for fifth graders at Cazadero Performing Arts Camp in May.

Our students come from diverse backgrounds with about half qualifying for free lunch programs.

My Project

I would like two iPads for my itinerant music program because of their ability to creat sound production with Garage Band. GarageBand is a fully equipped music creation studio right inside your Mac — with a complete sound library that includes instruments, presets for guitar and voice, and an incredible selection of session drummers and percussionists. With Touch Bar features for MacBook Pro and an intuitive, modern design, it’s easy to learn, play, record, create, and share your hits worldwide. Now you’re ready to make music like a pro. Thank you for considering my project. These iPads often engage learners in my class who if not for the tech experience would not fully engage.
