iPad Minis to Provide my Minis an Individualized Education!
My students need three iPad minis with Otterboxes so they can have access to thousands of books and apps that provide them the opportunity to learn on their individual levels.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Help! My students are at academic levels ranging from Pre-k to 3rd grade and need individualized support that is engaging and fun.
My students are 2nd graders in a Title I, low-income school in Maryland.
Despite the challenges they face, they show up to school every day extremely eager to learn. Because students are on a range of levels, the work is often too difficult for the struggling students. They become discouraged and give up. Other students are at or above grade level and would benefit from more challenging work.
My Project
Each child deserves to be met at their current educational level and pushed as far as they can go. This is extremely difficult in a class with students on varying levels. In my 2nd grade class there are students who perform on a pre-kindergarten level, but others who perform at a 3rd grade level. Some are capable of reading books like Matilda whereas others still struggle blending letters together to make sounds. Having iPad minis would allow my students to practice skills on their individualized level. They would allow me to figure out exactly what students need to focus on, and would provide that individually-tailored support. We would use the iPads for a number of things: to read stories, solve math problems, work on phonics, etc. Not only do iPads allow students to work on what they need to practice the most, they are also very engaging for students and provide students with immediate feedback on their work.
Your generosity will give my students an opportunity to an education that is tailored to their exact needs.
Students that would otherwise give up due to discouragement will instead get practice questions that are perfectly suited. Students that have the potential to be exceed grade level expectations will be given the opportunity to do so.
