Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go."- Dr. Seuss. This quote is the true essence of teaching. I want my students to have infinite opportunities to read and learn.
I teach first grade in a small rural school in Northern California.
First graders are eager to learn and curious about the world that we live in. The first-grade year is an essential year for students to develop their literacy skills. Students need to practice these skills in many ways.
My Project
By having iPads in our classroom, my students can practice reading skills with technology. They can have access to reading apps that teach important phonics skills and word recognition. The iPads can provide my class with a listening center to listen to books with access to Epic! a great resource that has an unlimited library of children's books. They can access excellent reading programs like RAZ kids which help to build reading fluency and comprehension.
By having iPads in the classroom, my students will have access to technology to practice and help further support their reading skills.
The knowledge and use of technology are necessary in today's world. Some of my students may never have access to this opportunity otherwise.
