Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first year new teacher at a Title I school. I teach Kindergarten to 21 amazing, challenging, intelligent, deserving students. These scholars come from low-income home, and most receive free breakfast and lunch. Our school is a stable, supportive, house of learning in what can be an often unstable neighborhood.
Our school community truly comes together to support the development of the whole child.
We believe each child has enormous potential and deserves the world. Our curriculum is rigorous, but the students are up to the challenge and set high goals for themselves. The pride they take in their successes is amazing to see.
My Project
My students do not get the chance to learn using technology at home. My students are all low income and all are on the free lunch program. By funding this project, you will give my students the opportunity to learn using technology, which is essential in today's day and age. The students will use the iPad to follow up with topics that are taught in class, along with working on fluency of math facts, spelling, and reading sight words.
I would like to incorporate the iPad into a technology center during my centers time in the afternoon.
I believe that the students would love to have the opportunity everyday to work on the iPad and practice skills from class.
Using technology in the classroom will help my students work on the specific skills that they struggle with, such as their reading and writing goals. My students get excited to use devices, such as iPads and the smart board. There are so many excellent websites and apps that I want to incorporate into the classroom. My students would be very appreciative if they were able to access these programs, and I know it would make a difference in their education!
