I am working hard to teach my students to be thinkers, not copiers; doers, not sayers. I need technology to help my students move beyond the walls of our classroom and be able to explore the world.
As part of a small school district, my third grade students do not have daily access to technology in the classroom.
Many of the students have access to the Internet at home, but need continued practice on researching safely and applying their skills to their education. It is my goal to teach them to be responsible citizens of the digital world while engaging and encouraging them to learn.
All of my students are eager to learn more about technology, and anxious to attend our bi-weekly trips to the computer lab. However, having a tablet in the classroom will give them the opportunity to polish these skills while having fun!
My Project
Adding another iPad to my classroom will allow the students to have even more access to apps that will help them to be successful. An iPad will allow the students to practice basic skills such as multiplication and spelling using apps such as Reflex Math and Spelling/Vocabulary City.
The students will also work to create online portfolios using the iPad to photograph, edit, and add to their work.
These portfolios will close the gap between school and home, as the students will have immediate access to see their child's work. An iPad will allow the students to practice basic skills such as multiplication and spelling using apps such as Reflex Math and Spelling/Vocabulary City.
