My Students

Imagine you are 13 and lose everything you own to a storm. Imagine, while your family struggles to rebuild your home, you are going to school every day, trying to keep up with an ever increasingly competitive world.

The town of Island Park was literally and figuratively torn apart by Hurricane Sandy.

Many students lost their homes and most possessions. When people think about Hurricane Sandy, they think about how bad it WAS for many families. It is a year later and many families on the South Shore of Long Island are still reeling from Sandy's effects.

My Project

My students are very hard-working and resourceful. Many come to school early and stay late to use the limited resources in our very crowded school library. I am trying to create a research center of several Ipads that will be used by the students before school, during school and after school.

While the technology has certainly changed since I was in 8th grade, the need to do ones' very best has not.

An Ipad station will help my students learn and succeed. Please help me help my students.
