My students need an iPad 2 and speaker so they can engage in enriched learning experiences through the most recent form of technology, that they don't get at home.
Think of the first time you were in complete amazement because you were able to use a computer, cell phone, or tablet to explore something new...now imagine never having the opportunity to do so, due to the misfortunes of your home economic situation. A situation no child should have to experience!
My students are eager-to-learn first graders who want to excel against all economic odds.
This group of students loves to learn and participate in hands on lessons, which includes singing and dancing to songs that help them learn letter sounds, reading, math concepts, and do physical education activities, which they see as a reward, rather than a chore. Even though they attend a school where 80 percent of the students and families receive free lunch due to being low income families, my students keep a positive attitude while in class. With my class being 45 percent English Language Learners, my students enjoy lessons that have enriched vocabulary and a multitude of visual images to better help them understand what they are being taught.
My Project
If my class were to receive an iPad, they would have to chance to use the technology that they hear and see about but never get to actually use. This would provide my students with a positive learning experience and allow my students to have the privilege of using one of the most current and popular tablets to learn the content standards through the various apps, which provides students with a way of learning that they cannot receive through regular classroom textbooks and worksheets. Additionally, my class has a passion for dancing. With an iPad and speaker, they could listen to world music and choreograph dance routines as part of our P.E. time. They could also watch dances from around the word that would expose them to different cultures as part of their social studies curriculum. Additionally, for my two students with learning disabilities, an iPad would let them practice fine motor skills when tracing letters and words on the screen through various educational apps.
Due to financial situations that my students cannot control, they may not have the opportunity to use an iPad to further and enhance their learning experience without the help of donors like you.
An iPad would give my students an unforgettable learning experience that will motivate them to want to learn through a form of technology that they may not get to use without the help of Donors Choose.
