My Students
I work at a school where the children are growing up in an environment where most people count them out before they even get a chance to get started. The majority of them live in a low income housing project just outside of the school. 100% of the students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch. They're growing up in a place where people expect them to become a product of their environment.
My students will get the chance to be ALL that they can be!
My Project
With your help, I'll be able to reach more students individually and in small groups. As the math specialist for my school, I visit different classrooms to aid with math in small groups and lessons. I often have to work with kids outside of the classrooms. I want to be able to offer collaborative, individualized learning opportunities, and increase students digital literacy for the younger kids in the school, but I can not because we do not have the necessary technology equipment for them to use. This iPad is light weight, making it very portable for me to carry from classroom to classroom.
The iPad will benefit my students because it will help to reinforce their math skills, complete activities that demand problem solving, decision-making, teamwork, and innovation.
It will also help to differentiate content to meet the varying needs of every student that I teach. They will be able to move at their own pace during the math activities. Also study shows that students who uses iPads are more engaged and work more efficiently than the students who work on paper assignments.
I want my students to become part of a global community that is digitally ready and uses the available tools to enhance their learning. This iPad will be a GREAT beginning as they move to becoming equipped for the 21st century.
