We are an elementary school in the only district in the state without a racial majority. Many students receive free or reduced-price lunch. I have a very diverse group of children from all ethnicities and backgrounds. We have many English language learners (ELL) and students with a variety of learning styles.
Our school has very limited materials.
I have a vast variety of all types of learners, ethnicities, and socioeconomic levels. My students love hands-on learning, getting moving, and reading engaging books! They benefit from being able to create, explore, and collaborate with others.
My Project
With the requested iPad, my students will be able to complete endless projects. The students will create their own digital pieces through iMovie, Prezi, Audacity, Kidblog, multimedia timelines and more! They will research their own projects and manufacture digital presentations to present their information. The iPad will allow students to collaborate with students across the globe. They will use critical thinking skills to solve everyday problems. We currently have limited technology, and I am on a mission to ensure that each student is able to have mobile technology at their fingertips!
We have been chosen to be a TED-Ed classroom; we need this iPad to research and develop our ideas and to publish our TED talks!
We will be thinking critically and developing compelling spoken narratives. Using this iPad, we will learn to use effective visuals, camera, lighting and sound effects. Further, we will connect with other TED-Ed classrooms around the world!
Additionally, it is critical that they are prepared for high school, college and career through digital literacy. They must have the necessary basic skills to be successful. This iPad will enrich my classroom in many ways and will ensure that my students always have the world at their fingertips!
