My Students

We are a Title I school on the Windward Side of Oahu whose student demographic is comprised mainly of students of Native Hawaiian ancestry. Given the proper setting, care, compassion, and supplies, these students can and do thrive.

When you talk about children that are resilient and have heart, that is the type of student I teach; they continue to work hard despite facing obstacles on a daily basis that some adults couldn't possibly fathom.

They are why I love being a teacher.

These students are lively, energetic, and passionate and they have an internal drive to succeed that can be brought forth with thoughtful lesson planning, good source material for differentiation, and the assistance of technology.

My Project

This iPad mini will be used in class by students to record their classroom learning journey's. Students will utilize this technology to document, record and photograph the different stages of their learning. Evidence will then be archived in their google accounts and be used for further creation and reflection on their classroom experiences. The iPad that the class currently has, is so old it's not capable of utilizing the most up-to-date apps.

Evidence based reflection is a powerful learning tool that can show students and their families their personal growth in a given subject area and being able to easily record, photograph, and sharing this evidence will help students metacognitive practices regarding their learning.

Students have participated and will continue to participate in a plethora of activities that are culturally responsive, project based, place based, and social and emotionally responsive to their needs - and it would be so amazing to have a user friendly tool for documentation.
