Our population of English Language Learners has increased this year more than any other year! I have students who speak a variety of different languages from Spanish to Igbo. Our school is a Title I school where students do not have access to the same materials that other students may have. My students and their families have come from many countries around the world looking for a better education and future for their family. It is my goal to assist my students in reaching this goal.
Technology is becoming more and more important in the classroom today. I would like to provide my students access to iPad tablets for our ESOL lessons. There are many lessons and games to use for math and science. Students can research science topics, create videos about our topics, play math games, and so much more.
Vanessa Vega a research analyst at Edutopia said, "At the heart of effective technology integration, technology offers opportunities to be more actively involved in the learning experience."
By helping us acquire these iPads I can engage my students in their learning with technology that interests them. Students can take ownership in their learning as well by using apps such as Seesaw to upload work for not only myself to evaluate but for parents as well. This will assist in parent involvement as well.
Thank you in advance for all of your help in making a difference in these students' education.
