Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in an extremely diverse and unique city, my students come from extremely diverse and unique backgrounds. In this, they enter my classroom with a variety of needs and strengths. My hope is to provide for them a quality and holistic education, regardless of their background or circumstances. I strive to create the most effective lessons inside a safe environment that fosters their academic, social, and emotional needs.
My students are empathetic, loving, curious, and creative second graders.
We are a new charter school in our second year, so my students are the leaders of our school! I try to always provide opportunities for exciting and engaging lessons that allow my students to explore their own learning.
My Project
We need an iPad to utilize Osmo most effectively in the classroom. I have been fortunate enough to have received iPad minis in the past from Donors Choose, and I realize the impact that they can have on a classroom. While my iPad minis are used for listening centers, research, math fluency, and phonics intervention, this iPad would be specifically used for Osmo. I have a large class and I want to engage as many students as possible, so I plan to have some students on iPad minis, and some students using Osmo with a 9.7 inch iPad.
A larger iPad would be helpful for our classroom to utilize Osmo in the most effective way possible.
Students need to interact with technology since our world is so technologically driven. Osmo gives students the opportunity to interact with technology while also learning code, to manipulate numbers and words, and creativity through drawing. This iPad is necessary so that my students can use Osmo in the classroom and can be prepared for the 21st century job market.
