This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from diverse backgrounds with varying needs and enthusiasm for creating and learning! We have a lot of students who are English language learners. They amaze me with their abilities to learn the language so quickly! We are a Title 1 school with 100% of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch.

Our school is almost 70 years old, which is one of the oldest schools in Las Vegas!

It's in a beautiful historic neighborhood. We were fortunate to have been chosen for a brand new building. We moved in last year, and are finally being able to use it. After being home for a year, returning to school in a brand new building has been an exciting endeavor for all of us.

My Project

My students are so happy and excited to be at school this year! One of the main issues with distance learning was the students didn’t have the opportunity to work together. I am implementing centers and maker spaces in the library to encourage problem-solving and cooperative learning activities. The iPad will be used as a literacy center. Students will use it in pairs to read ebooks, work on iReady, practice using the library catalog, play literacy games, and research using databases such as Culturegarms and Worldbook Online, to name a few.
