My Students

Do you remember your first experience using technology in school?

I have a 3rd grade classroom in Iowa.

This year I have 23 students who are truly amazing. It is a huge academic jump to transition from 2nd to 3rd grade. Each one of my students has unique needs and they come from a variety of backgrounds. I tailor my instruction to meet all of their individual needs and know having an iPad will assist in meeting their needs.

My Project

Can you imagine learning how to use technology as a 3rd grader? I believe every child should have exposure and experiences daily with technology. It is my dream, and I'm sure my students, to have accessible technology within my classroom daily. I have 2 student computers and would love to add iPads into what my students could use. I have small group instruction for math and reading and would have my students using different applications to promote the concepts we are working on. This would make a huge change in their engagement during independent time as kids love using, playing, and learning on iPads. We have a very large school with only 1 computer lab, therefore, we only get to go to the computer lab for 30 minutes per week. This is NOT enough.

This will make a huge difference in the lives of all of us, by giving each child time to learn math, reading, and science concepts through engaging games and applications.
